Retinols, Botox and fillers are touted as a powerful combo for aging skin.
Retinol helps neutralize free radicals in the middle layer of your skin. This can help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and enlarged pores.
Botox, a neurotoxin, paralyzes facial muscles to prevent wrinkles caused by movement.
And fillers are injectable, gel-like substances used to reduce signs of aging, such as wrinkles and folds, and restore volume and fullness to the face, lips, cheeks, and hands.
Doesn't this all sound fantastic? Well it can be, but these treatments aren't for everyone.
I was recently chatting with a good friend who told me that a dermatologist had pressured her into getting Botox for her forehead lines. She was hesitant: As someone who leaned towards natural medicine, she had never considered Botox before. But the dermatologist assured her that it was the best way to treat her forehead wrinkles, and so my friend went for it.
It worked-- the wrinkles vanished within a couple of days-- but my friend was really unhappy. She said her forehead felt weird, as if it wasn't her skin anymore. And she hated how expressionless she looked when she looked in the mirror, like she didn't recognize herself.
I reassured her the effects would be temporary, since Botox only lasts about 3 months. She decided she would never go for Botox again.
That's when I introduced her to a great alternative: microneedling. Unlike Botox and fillers, which can create a temporary and artificial appearance of youth, microneedling literally stimulates your own body's collagen production to improve skin texture and reduce fine lines and wrinkles-- even those that appear when your face is at rest.

The best part? It doesn't change how you look or feel. It just brings back the youthfulness and the glow to your face, without altering your appearance. It is 100% genuinely, certifiably YOUR FACE-- just younger-looking, healthier, with better blood flow, and an improved skin barrier.

So while retinol, Botox, and fillers may not be for everyone, microneedling can literally benefit anybody. It even works for stretch marks and scars on the body.
Now my friend is an Underground Beauty Bar customer for life. I love a happy ending!
